Paperbabe rag tails

Good morning friends.
Last night I decided to have a go with a Paperbabe stencil. I got a few early this year and apart from having a quick go of 2 of them, I never seemed to find the time to try out the others.
So when I found I had a couple of hours to do some crafting, I couldn't wait to grab a stencil and some acrylic paint and start to play.
I didn't have a plan, just went with the flow, and this is what I came up with, I really enjoyed using these incredible stencils.

Once I had taken a photo, I decided to have a play with it in the photo editing suite on my phone. I really like this negative effect, its cool.

I am entering this into paperbabe stamps challenge -63 - anything goes

Festive makes...part 2

As promised, here's some more of my festive makes from this years collection.

Countdown to Christmas chalkboards, these are just some of the designs that I hand painted onto wooden hearts that had been painted first with 3 coats of chalkboard paint.

This is a wooden advent that I bought the blank from Hobbycraft last year, but didnt get round to decorating till this year. It has 24 little drawers that you can put a little treat in and reuse year after year.
I painted with white paint, then a coat of crackle effect, followed by a pale blue paint. For the drawers I used the same paints and crackle just the opposite way around and added a mix of silver foiled and glitter number stickers.
I added a little corner display of flowers, leaves and berries and some snowflake jewel designs.
The santa sleigh and reindeer were painted with Viva decor ceramic white and edged with a touch of blue. I layered up the base with scrunched up tissue, pretend snow, mini balls and loads of sparkle.
I'm really pleased with the finished piece, very pretty and sparkly.

Festive makes

Here's some of the projects I've been making over the last couple of months. They were very good sellers at my Christmas fairs and also in the craft shop were I display some of my makes.

I named the range Winter Woodland. It consisted of various designs on slate hearts, log slices and wood hearts. Lots of woodland creatures, robins, squirrels, deer, fox, and other birds.

Thanks for looking, come back tomorrow to see some more of my festive makes.

IndigoBlu Retreat

A couple of weeks ago my daughter and I went on an art retreat organised by IndigoBlu.  On day 1 we did a face painting, using a stencil for the outline and then painted with acrylic paint.
I'm entering this into https://countryviewchallenges.blogspot.co.uk - November challenge - stencils

On day 2 we had a go at acrylic pouring, we loved it because you dont know how each one is going to turn out. Even when you use exactly the same colours, each pour looks different. When I got home I mounted some onto larger canvases and one in a frame.

On day 3 we made and decorated a mixed media box with 6 ATCs to go inside, I didnt get to finish it so I haven't taken any photos.
Big thanks to Kay, Alfie and all the other ladies for making it an absolutely amazing few days, I have already booked us on another weekend next year. Can't wait :)

Lose yourself in nature and find peace..

Evening all, just a quick post tonight.
Here's a mixed media canvas I made, its so soft and romantic, I just love it.
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/543328126/mixed-media-canvas-handmade-home-decor?ref=listing_published_alert
I started by distressing the edges of some papers from Crafters Companion Shabby Chic paper pad, and layered them on a canvas board.

Then I layered flowers and die cut pieces down the center, along with a resin embellishment.

Next I added a 3d butterfly sticker and some small sparkly gems.
Finally I stamped a sentiment, cut it into a tag shape, and added a ribbon bow.

Altered notebooks

Afternoon all, I hope its nice and sunny where you are, coz its wet and miserable here today. But at least that means I can spend time in my craft room. 👍
For todays make I would like to share a couple of altered notebooks, in a bit of a vintage / steampunk style.

I started out by removing the back and front covers of the notebooks and used a stencil and texture paste to create a raise design, before painting with starlight paints to add colour and a shimmer.
After die cutting some cogs, clocks, locks and hinges, I painted them black and lightly rubbed over some of them with gold gilding wax to give the effect of metal. On the others I used red and gold acrylic paint, stippling it on to produce a rusty look.
These were then arranged on the notebooks with some chipboard nuts and bolts which I had painted in the same way.
Finally I stamped and embossed some words, teared around them, inked the edges and glued them in place.
The back covers were also stenciled and painted in the same way, although I have not taken any pictures to show you.
I reassembled the notebooks and Voila there you have them, finished.

I'm going to enter them into a couple of challenges:

Home is where our hearts belong

Morning all,
for today's creation I have made a decorative mdf heart.
Firstly  I covered the heart with Blissful paper in peach by Anna Marie Designs. I added strips of different designs from the same pad in a criss cross pattern.

Next I added an arrangement of flowers, stamens, a chipboard butterfly, a metal butterfly, a couple of pearl pins, glitter droplets and a metal /enamel button embellishment.

I stamped and embossed a sentiment 'Home is where our hearts belong' and finally splattered some white paint and dusted lightly with irridescent glitter.

It actually looks quite glittery in real life, but it doesn't show up on the picture.

Beside the seaside, beside the sea..

Good morning!
As I can't go on holiday this summer, I decided to cheer myself up by making this ocean themed canvas.
To start I used some sea life stencils on an 8x8 canvas, glued some cheesecloth strips and then mixed up some luscious powders by IndigoBlu with water in spray bottles and spritzed blue and green down the left and sandy gold across the right.

Whilst the canvas was drying I gessoed some chipboard shapes, shells and various other embellishments, then sprayed them with the same colours as the canvas.

Extra texture was created by adding some sand and balls, along with beads, gems and some string.

A nice sentiment was stamped and embossed, then spritzed with the colour sprays and finally I used gold gilding wax and some sparkly gems.

Peacock painting

Good morning, I'd like to share my first attempt at painting a peacock.

I used water colours and a little acrylic paint for the neck and head, and a technique using masking fluid, bubble wrap and Brusho powder pigments for the effect of the tail feathers.
I was inspired by Alison C Board who does some wonderful water colour and mixed media artwork.
I'm pleased with the finished painting, and hope to improve with practice.

Imagine' - mixed media canvas

Good evening, I would like to share one of my mixed media wall hangings with you.

I started by covering a canvas board with a couple of layers of patterned papers from  the Blissful Cotton pad by Anna marie designs. I distressed and inked the edges before layering them up.

I found some lovely hessian and lace ribbon in my crafty stash, so added a piece across the middle.
I painted some chipboard pieces, a frame and a couple of swirly corners and used them to build up a little arrangement along with some silk and paper flowers.
I made a small heart out of UTEE and added that to the frame.

Finally I stamped a beautiful sentiment from Inkylicious, tore it out and inked the edges to match the backing papers. After adding a few pearl embellishments, I splattered the whole canvas with white paint, a quick mist of gold glint spray and then lightly rubbed over the edges with gold gilding wax.
So that it could easily be hung up, I used my Cropadile to punch 2 holes and threaded some jute string through them.
Et voila ! Finished !

I hope you like it and perhaps I've inspired you to have a go yourself. If so Please leave me a link to your blog or facebook, in the comments, so I can come and take a look.

I am going to enter it into this months-

See you soon
Sending hugs and sunshine
