Handmade Monday

Well its soon got round to another Handmade Monday #59.
So what have I been up to this week?
As usual I've been getting ready for craft fairs, I went to one on Saturday at Lark Lane , Liverpool. It wasn't particularly busy, I think everyone was making the most of the glorious weather, but we did get a few people coming for a look around and I did manage to sell a few items.

These alternative to chocolate Easter gifts, that I posted about earlier in the week, sold well.
I had a couple of people leaving comments, asking how I decorated the tealights.
Its easy just stamp and colour on to tissue paper, cut out and apply in the usual melt in, way.
I did a set for myself and tested out what happens when the tealights are lit.
They burn as normal, but just under the flame the edge of the tissue and image burns away.

I now have a long list of things that I need to make and paint before the next fair in two weeks time.
But I'm not doing any today, I'm off out with the dog to enjoy a bit of sunshine.
Catch up with you all soon

Non chocolate Easter treats..

I know what your all saying, non chocolate treats? where's the fun in them.
Believe it or not some people dont like chocolate ?????
I know I'm definately not one of them (as she pops another Thorntons continental in her mouth.)
Anyway, I've been asked to make some little gifts for the non-chocoholics among us.
Here's what I made....What do you think?

They are little peek a boo treat boxes.
I got the instructions from a Splitcoast Stampers Tutorial

But instead of filling with sweet treats, I filled with decorated tealight candles.
I had to adjust the sizing and scoring from the tutorial, to fit them in.
My card was cut to 4 1/2 inches x 12 inches and scored to a depth of 3/4 inch.
If anyone wants the exact measurements, etc, just let me know and I'll do a quick tutorial.

I used nice bright springy colours and decorated this one with a butterfly, cut with Spellbinder dies.

This is the peek a boo bit, under the top lid is an acetate covered scallop circle, so that you can see whats inside.

I decorated these tealights with butterflies to match.

These two are decorated with punched flowers atop layered Nesties

I used patterned card for these, so didnt decorate inside.

In one I decorated the tealights with flowers,

coloured with Promarkers and glitter pens.

And the second with cute little birdies.

I enjoyed making these, I hope they sell well tomorrow, then I can make more.
Thanks for looking
I'll catch up with you all soon and let you know how they went.

What a cute little mousie...

Another beautiful, sunny day here in Newton, oh what joy!
My very pampered pooch has been for an extra long walk today, I couldn't help staying out and just soaking up the glorious weather.
And all this sun is inspiring me to make more spring/ Easter cards.

Heres my make today, yet another House Mouse, I can't get enough of these little cutie pies.
I coloured with Promarkers and layered on to some lilac card, which actually looks darker in the photo than in real life, its actually got a gorgeous golden glimmer, which doesn't show up at all in the pics. This was matted onto a yellow diecut circle and some free pattern paper from a magazine.

I embellished with a MS border and ribbon, four morroccan die corners, each with a gemstone, some flowers, die cut leaves and swirls and stamped sentiments.
I have to admit it is very busy, but I don't care I'm in a bright and bubbly mood. :)

Another Easter/ Spring card

I'd like to share a challenge card with you today, it was made to fit in with a number of challenges.
The first is Passion for Promarker - Animals theme challenge.
I decided to make an easel card today, but a fancy shaped one.
I used an XL frame Frilly #2 from Go Kreate to make my base card and also for the larger mats and layers. I used a butterfly pattern paper from stash not sure of brand.

I chose one of my favourite House Mouse spring stamps to colour with Promarkers, isn't it just adorable (mind you all HM are), and so easy to colour.

I stamped a sentiment, punched it out and layered it on a paper flower.
To hold the front cover up in the easel style, I punched a Martha Stewart border punch and layered up on green card with two lengths of ribbon in coordinating colours.
I made a couple of flowers using the same pattern paper and die cut some Spellbinder leaves and swirls.

I am entering it into these challenges also...

A mans card

I made this card as an order for a customers father who is a steam train fanatic. I know it's ok to show it now as his birthday was yesterday.

My remit for this card was just a card for dad with a steam train on it.
My first challenge was finding a nice picture of a steam train, I found a couple on the internet and a couple on cd's that I had. I chose this one as it was bright and colourful. I printed it out four times then used my nesties to cut out four decreasing sizes, then layered them up in pyramage fashion.
I matted on some textured gold card and used a backing paper from Sheena's cd. Then cut out two circle borders using two Spellbinder border dies put together, this is to highlight the train wheels( or what ever you call them).
I received a lovely comment from the customer saying she loved the card and her dad would be thrilled.

Handmade Monday 58

Happy Monday to you all, I'm enjoying another beautiful sunny day, two in a row, I'm getting spoilt with all this lovely weather, hope you are too.
Sorry I'm late with this post, although its called Handmade Monday, most people who join in with this link party generally post on a Sunday, but I had a very busy, albeit lovely, craft and computer free Mothers Day.
So this is what I've been up to over the last week....
As usual I've been busy making items for the next craft fairs

These once finished will be bookmarks, I need to punch holes and thread ribbons through yet.
I stamped these poppies from Sheena's sketchy range with Versamark and embossed in black and then coloured them with Promarkers and Copic pens. I over stamped and embossed with gold and added embossed swirls and edges

I painted up another key hanger, this time with a Paint Fusion poppy design.
I need to finish this off with hooks and hanging wire before it goes to a craft fair.

I also painted some door hangers this time with a Hello Kitty theme. I do love painting some fun, kiddy items as well as floral designs.

These two are doggie lead hangers or at least will be once I've added hooks and hanging wires.
I painted up quite a few things last week, but haven't got round to finishing many of them yet, I'll have to get busy, I've got a fair this Saturday.
I would like to enter these challenges
One Stitch at a Time - Girly challenge - Kitty door hangers

I'm off to check out some of the other crafty blogs at Wendy's 1st Unique blog, and Bath Bomb Creations Sunday linky party so I'll catch up later.
Hugs Sue x

I am very proud to say ....

I've been featured on Bath Bomb Creations.
The lovely people at Bath Bomb Creations liked a key hanger that I painted up with fushias and so have used my blog as their featured blog on their 'I made this' Sunday linking party this week.

So if you've made something this week that you'd like to share, head on over to their blog and leave a link to it on the link party post and let others come by and have a look at your blog and creations. You in turn can get some inspiration by looking at all the other canny crafters blogs.
Dont forget to leave them some comments, we all love some feedback.

Saturday challenge card

Good afternoon, I hope your having a wonderful Saturday.
Last night I put my paints away and got out my Promarkers and Copics. I stamped lots of House Mouse images and had a few hours colouring in. Love it, so relaxing. I been very busy today, taking the children to and fro their activities, doing the usual house work, washing, etc, etc, but
I've just managed to fit in making a quick card to enter some challenges. Here it is.....

I followed the sketch over at Sketch Saturday, always a good idea if short on time, otherwise I sit swapping and changing the layout for ages.

I used this adorable HM image, coloured last night with Promarkers and Copics.
I layered up on green and pink card and used a backing paper from stash, edging all layers and edges with Forest Moss Distress ink

I used a Martha Stewart border punch under the image and a sentiment from a House Mouse rubber stamp set. I finished off by layering up some flowers with a metal centre embellishment and some small plastic daisies and popped a gem stone in the centre of each.

Hope you like it.
I am also entering it into these challenges
Sweet Stampin - Use lots of green
Joanna Sheen - Spring is in the air
Stamp, Scrap and Doodles - Green and White
Totally Gorjuss - Spring

Versatile blogger award

I have just recieved another award, this time The Versatile Blogger Award, from the ever so sweet Jeanette at JJ Designs. Thank you so much hun!

I will pass the award on later to some more versatile bloggers. But for now, once again Thank you Jeanette.

Something new...

Hi there everyone, today, as promised, I'd like to share something different.
I made these candles as a gift for my mum and dad.

This first one has a picture of our old dog Cassie taken at a place called Castle Hill which is a lovely bit of countryside just at the back of my mum and dads house, where we used to frequently walk her.
Isn't she a beauty?

The second is made with a photo of  Opal one of my mum's cats, who also is no longer with us.

This photo was taken in mum's back garden and Opal is posing in front of a beautiful tulip border.
I have loads of gorgeous pics of Opal, but this is one of my favourites, its so bright.
Unfortunately my best printer is not working and I had to print using another one and the colours don't print out so vibrantly, and then look even more faded once applied on to the candles.

I also made a couple of teddy candles, and sold them at the craft fair last week end.

Another card...

Good morning to all my bloggy friends,
Here's my card for today

For this one I painted some wild roses and a lilac butterfly and layered up with lilac card and green pattern paper. I used corners cut with Spellbinders moroccan dies and foliage behind the sentiment.

I am entering this card into the following challenges
I know all my cards have been very similar lately, lots of paint fusion and spellbinder dies, but I promise to show you something different tomorrow.
