Halloween Mdf makes

My craft room is starting to look a little bit spooky.

The base mdf  is from Daisy Jewels and crafts

I added texture paste through stencils and painted black before glueing the tombstone to the base.

I added a couple of extra side fences and some plastic spiders.

I then broke up some small pieces of wood, actually they were the little pieces that come with box canvases, that I don't really know what they are for. I stained them and glued into a pile with moss mixed in and a couple of hands reaching out from the grave.

I stamped a new stamp from Indigblu called cracked glass on the grave stone as I thought it looked like spider web. As I was sticking pieces into place using a glue gun, I draipped the stringey bits across the sides.

These 2 little tealight boxes were painted first before glueing together and then I added glow in the dark paint to the ghost bats and spiders.

For the haunted house I stencilled first with texture paste, then painted with a couple of colours of starlight paints. the ghost and graves also got a wash of glow in the dark paint.

Think I might add a little bit more to this one, some moss and extra embellishments maybe.

Dragon eye altered journal cover

Just think Smaug the dragon waking up in that classic scene from the Hobbit. That was my inspiration for these journal covers.

I made the eyes by handcasting resin in a mould and and then building around it using clay and some texture stones. I painted the eyeballs with acrylic paint and once dry applied a couple of coats of Glossy Accents.

Before I applied them to the mountboard cover, I used texture paste through stencils to add background texture.

Once I stuck on the eyes and built round with clay, I also added some texture stones, metal cogs and some coins. This was to give the idea of Smaug laying on all the treasure.

I decided this one was a water dragon so coloured him with a base of blue.

After painting with the base colours, using starlight paint, I then rubbed over with different coloured guilding waxes to pick up on all the textures.

I really love them and am in the process of making more and I decided to do something similar on a canvas. But you'll have to wait to see that one as I think that might take a while to complete.

Here's a few I've made lately, hopefully they will give you some inspiration.

I'm entering this one Altered eclectics challenge

I am entering this one into Vintage journey -how-can-you-resist as I used thick gel medium through a stencil to act as a resist.

Mixed media altered box

Another quick post today, an altered box.
I wasn't happy with the colours so as you can see from the later pictures I decided to alter the colours a bit by adding some blue spray and blue embellishments.
I think it really brightens and lifts it and now I love it.

Mother Nature canvas

Good morning, Today I'd like to share a canvas I made using one of my hand cast resins.

The other day I bought some resin and got out my moulds and I think I went a bit mad. Its so addictive I couldnt stop pouring and casting until I'd used up the entire 1kg bottles.

I have been watching and getting inspiration from some videos by Anna Hersom and thought I'd have a go.

You can see the mother nature cast a little closer here, and some of the small resin flowers.

Mirror mirror on the wall....

Today I'm sharing a large canvas I made using Stamperia rice paper, a hand cast resin frame, chipboard, texture paste and Deco art paints.
Firstly I drew an outline of the dress, then stuck down the rice paper. I applied texture paste to the dress to give a little dimension and once dry painted over it. I also applied some through stencils around the background.
Once the rice paper and texture paste had dried, I sponged on paint in coordinating colours all over, around the edges of the rice paper.
I glue silver mirror card to the back of a resin frame and glued that onto the canvas, then to pull it all together I added in some extra painted flowers, leaves and twirly tendrils. Then to finish a couple of 3d butterflies were applied.

Stamperia unicorn mixed media canvas

Hello my creative friends, I have been watching some videos on Stamperia You tube channel, where they apply rice paper, paints, stencils and stamps, to create a background, then cut through the canvas to lift it up giving a 3d look.
I decided to have a go using a unicorn rice paper and a flower and butterfly rice paper.
Unfortunately it didnt quite go to plan and when I cut through the canvas the paint and rice paper started to lift and seperate from the canvas. The butterflies and wings on the unicorn looked ok, but the flowers looked dreadful, so I used some mulberry and foam flowers to disguise the messy canvas.
Here's the result...

I will have to have another watch of the videos to see where I went wrong and have another go.
