Versatile blogger award

I have just recieved another award, this time The Versatile Blogger Award, from the ever so sweet Jeanette at JJ Designs. Thank you so much hun!

I will pass the award on later to some more versatile bloggers. But for now, once again Thank you Jeanette.

Something new...

Hi there everyone, today, as promised, I'd like to share something different.
I made these candles as a gift for my mum and dad.

This first one has a picture of our old dog Cassie taken at a place called Castle Hill which is a lovely bit of countryside just at the back of my mum and dads house, where we used to frequently walk her.
Isn't she a beauty?

The second is made with a photo of  Opal one of my mum's cats, who also is no longer with us.

This photo was taken in mum's back garden and Opal is posing in front of a beautiful tulip border.
I have loads of gorgeous pics of Opal, but this is one of my favourites, its so bright.
Unfortunately my best printer is not working and I had to print using another one and the colours don't print out so vibrantly, and then look even more faded once applied on to the candles.

I also made a couple of teddy candles, and sold them at the craft fair last week end.

Thanks for looking

Another card...

Good morning to all my bloggy friends,
Here's my card for today

For this one I painted some wild roses and a lilac butterfly and layered up with lilac card and green pattern paper. I used corners cut with Spellbinders moroccan dies and foliage behind the sentiment.

I am entering this card into the following challenges
I know all my cards have been very similar lately, lots of paint fusion and spellbinder dies, but I promise to show you something different tomorrow.

Handmade Monday 57

Good morning everyone, I would like to share what I've been upto over the last week and also thought I would join in with Handmade Monday #57.
Its been ages since I've caught up with all the very talented crafters who share their latest makes and weekly experiences over on Wendy's 1st Unique blog
I've been busy over the last couple of weeks getting ready for Craft fairs and markets. As its nearly Mothers Day I've been making lots of cards and suitable gifts, as you may have noticed if you've looked at some of my earlier posts.
The first pic shows a fushia painted card, and as usual I included backing papers printed off Sheenas cd and lots of fancy die cuts using Spellbinders Moroccan die sets

In this close up of the fushia, you can see that I edged with gold embossing powder.

I also painted a fushia key holder. I was a bit too keen to take the photo and only realised when I was writing this post, that I took the pic before I'd added the hooks and hanging wire, and I can't take another photo now as it sold straight away on Saturday at my local church craft fair.

Here's a very rare photo of me at my table at the craft fair, usually I'm the one taking the pics, so although I have many of my stall, I'm not normally on any.
I had a lovely day and although it was very quiet in the morning, after dinner it picked up and I made plenty of sales, and even better, had a good catch up with many friends and collegues who I used to work with.

Thanks for looking!
I'll be back tomorrow with another card.

A quick card post...

Good morning, a very quick post from me today.
Here's a Paint Fusion fushia card, again painted on black card with white ink and Brilliance pink smudged around the edges, I'm loving this look at the moment, very misty.
The card looks better in real life, but I took the pic late last night so the photo is dull.
I used a backing paper from Sheena's cd and a rolled flower, this has got black glitter in the centre and also around the edge of the backing paper, although it doesn't show up very well.

Hope you like it and thanks for taking the time to look.
Right I'm back to packing up the car ready for the weekend. I'm not sure I'll get chance to do much blogging, so I'll say catch up soon!

More pink roses

Good morning,
As you may have noticed lately I'm loving painting roses at the moment.
Here's a pink candle, painted with pink roses. What !!! I hear you cry. Normally I wouldn't paint pink roses on a pink background, but I thought the candle was such a pretty colour, that I wanted to keep the pretty feel with it.
So firstly I dabbed on a couple of green shades with a stencil brush, then painted the leaves and the flower heads on top of that. Although it took quite a long time to do, as I had to wait for each layer to dry naturally, (no using a heat tool to speed things up) lol, I am happy with the result and think it still looks pretty.
Its hard to show the full design of a curved candle, so here's a few photos from different angles.

Here's what I did in between waiting for layers to dry..

These started life as gravy granule pots. I use them to keep old paintbrushes and scissors, etc in, so I thought I would give them a spruce up.
I printed off a couple of backing papers from Sheena's cd, and a sheet of poppy decoupage. After cutting out the poppies, I used pva to glue on the papers, folding it down into the inside to get a neat finish. Next the flowers were glued on and then gave them a thin coating of watered down pva over the top to seal them. Quick and Easy!

I am entering my candle into
Dutch Dare  - Tic tac toe challenge bright colours, flowers, springtime
CRAFT - Mothers Day challenge - I think this candle will make a perfect Mothers Day gift

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Deep red roses

Hi everyone, sorry I've missed a couple of days, I'm such a bad blogger, but I've been getting ready for the next couple of weekend craft fairs.

Anyhoo here's my card for today...

I thought I'd have a try at painting deep red roses, as they are my very favourite colour, my wedding bouquet was made up of loads of these, so many in fact that I found it very difficult to hold for any length of time, I had to keep putting it down for a rest. It was absolutely stunning though!
I used a couple of Spellbinders edgeabilities along the edges of my red mat, unfortunately the corners didn't match up very well, so I cut them away and added a morrocan accent corner instead.
I covered the card blank with two papers from Sheenas cd and I did add two moroccan borders along the join, but the topper is so large you cant see it  :o(
I finished with a couple of ribbon bows, some red rosebuds, pearl headed pins, a happy birthday sentiment and a red gem in each corner.
I hope you like it.!
I'm going to enter it into
Creative inspirations - Anything goes challenge
and Simon says Stamp - Anything goes
I'll be back tomorrow, enjoy the rest of your day.

Another rose, another notebook

I'm back with another notebook, this time with a rose design.

I used Sheena's stamp sets for the two larger and also for the rosebuds and then did the smaller blossom free hand, I think it looks ok.
I would also like to share a couple of wooden plaques that I painted ready for my next craft fair.

As these plaques are only about 3 inches x 6 inches, I had to scale down my painting alot, which I find difficult, the bigger the better for me. I tried to use the same techniques as with the bigger designs, but used a smaller brush. I'm pleased with the rose one, but not with the poppy, there's something not quite right. If there's anyone with knowledge about how to paint small, please leave me some hints and tips.
Thanks for looking!
Challenges I'm entering:
I'm going to have to go and take the dog for a walk, she jumping about in front of me. I'm sure if she could speak she'd be saying 'Come on mum its walkies time'. lol

Paint Fusion Fushia set.

Morning to all my crafty friends!
As you may have noticed I'm into my Paint Fusion at the minute, can't get enough of the new stamp sets, cd and transfers.
Today I'd like to share with you my promised fushia painting. If you have read my earlier posts you will know that I didnt make a card this time, I painted a notebook.
So here it is all dry and put back together.

When painting a wire bound notebook, I take the back and front covers off. I had to paint a dark base colour first, about 3 coats as this book had a design on it already. Then I did the crackle effect using pva (see coaster tutorial) and ivory paint as top coat. I did this on both the front and back, inside and out.
Next the fun begins...
I stamped the leaves and painted them, followed by the fushia flowers, to the front cover only. To finish it I used some distress inks to make it look more like old wood, then stamped and gold embossed some swirls and edges. Lastly a coat of varnish just to seal and protect. Once dry reattach the covers.

Not content with just a notebook, I also painted the fushia design on a couple of candles.
The design goes all the way around  the candles and as is the case with candle painting was a bit trickier than painting on card. I also had to paint over the design about 3 times as the staz on that I used to stamp with was showing through, and I didn't like the look.
But I'm pleased with the end result, so was worth the extra effort.
Challenges I am entering:
Hope you all have a wonderful crafty day.
I'll catch up with you tomorrow.

Lilac paint fusion card

Good morning all!

Here's my 1st try at the Paint Fusion Lilac stamps

I painted this on some Centura card, so it has a lovely glimmer in the background and I lightly inked the edges, then matted on to lilac card. Before I layered this on to the dark blue card I stamped the lilac stamp around the edge of the blue card using versamark and then again with white Staz on.
All I did to make it into a card was cut two border strips with a Martha Stewart punch and glued them down the sides of a folded A4 centura pearl card, stamped a sentiment and added a ribbon bow, two lilac rosebuds and two pearl headed pins, and three gems on the opposite corner.
I am entering this into the Paperplay - For a Mother challenge.

I did try out the fuchia stamps, but not on card, on the front cover of a notebook, so I am waiting for it all to dry then I can put the book back together. So I'll show you that once its all finished.
Thanks for looking

Tatty bye

My 1st paint fusion rose

Good morning all, I hope I find you all well.

Last night I was playing with my new Paint Fusion rose set of stamps.
I'm please with my first attempt at Sheena's rose.

I saw Sheena stamp on to black card, so thought I would give it a go.
After painting the leaves, then the roses, I smudged some white ink around the edges and then went over with a pinky brilliance pad. I quite like the result, it looks a bit misty.
I decided to make it into another Mothers Day card, while I'm in the mood, so I matted on pink then black card. I covered the front of a folded card blank with a backing paper printed from Sheenas CD ( I'm loving the cd, thanks Sheena). I cut double border strips using Spellbinders Morrocan accents or motifs (not sure which) and layered a paper ribbon, again from Sheenas cd. Stamped a sentiment and finished with a double ribbon bow and three pinky gemstones.
I would like to enter it into Totally papercrafts - Ribbon or bows challenge

I'm off to try the Fuchia stamp now, I'll be back soon to show you how it turns out.
Thanks for looking.
Bye !

A few quick cards for Mothers Day

Today I've made a few very quick cards ready to sell at the next couple of craft fairs, they are at the beginning of March so just in time for Mothers Day.
I used mainly Hunkydory products.
A close up of these ...

Unfortunately I didnt have any foiled acetate, so I had to use plain, but this doesn't look very nice so will have to add something more.
I did try to heat emboss some swirls on a piece, but as this acetate wasn't heat resistant it all bent and moulded into a wharped mess, so was filed away into the bin.
I might try and find my heat resistant acetate and try again, but I was too impatient when making this one and couldn't be bothered hunting in my oh so untidy craft room. I could be in there for days, lol.
 Catch up with you later
