Katy Sue Designs sneaky peeks 1

So here as promised is the first of my samples using the Katy Sue Designs new moulds. As you can see theres a dragons eye and three claws. The full eye mould is actually 2 eyes, left and right.
This sample is a box canvas, and is a homage to Smaug the dragon waking up in the dwarfs treasure hall from the story "The Hobbit"

I used hearty clay in the moulds. Then once dry painted the eye using acrylic paint and Starlight paints on the surround and also on the claws.

I stencilled the canvas with texture paste and added jewels, coin charms and some very bright plastic pirate coins that I painted over and used gilding wax to tone them down.

Hope you like it :)
Please leave a comment and let me know what you think
Pop by tomorrow for another sample or two.

Dont forget to watch the show on Hochanda at 6pm and 8pm Tuesday 29th Jan and at 9am, 1pm and 5pm Wednesday 30th Jan

I hope its ok to enter this into

Guest Design Team Member

I'm so excited to tell you my news.

I was contacted in October by Antony Minnis, the creative director at Katy Sue Designs, he said he admired my work and asked if I would like to be a guest on their design team and make some samples using some new moulds they were in the process of designing. Of course I jumped at the chance and was sent a couple of the most amazing moulds a few weeks later.
So I have been doing lots of secret crafting making samples which I am not allowed to share yet, but I will be sharing them with you next week, from Tuesday.

I love Katy Sue Designs products and have used their moulds in my crafting for a number of years, my latest favourite being the gorgeous unicorn, which you have seen used in my crafting already on here.
Just in case you missed it, here's some pics

Such a beautiful and detailed design dont you agree? They have since brought out a smaller version as well.

Thanks for visiting today and dont forget to call again all next week, as I will be showing the samples I made with the Katy Sue Designs new moulds. Six days of sneaky peeks starting on Tuesday.

They will be available to buy as a One Day Special on Hochanda, in shows starting at 6pm on Tuesday 29th January and throughout the day Wednesday 30th and believe me, they are not to be missed.

Quick catch-up

Good morning crafty friends, a quick post today, to let you know what I've been making on the lead up to christmas.
I painted some glass tealight holders with poppy and fuchia designs, as well as some small candles.

These always sell well on my craft stall, so I painted up a few around the end of November. I painted some rose designs too, but forgot to take pictures.

I also cast some Dragon and unicorn resins and made them into note book covers.

Halloween Mdf makes

My craft room is starting to look a little bit spooky.

The base mdf  is from Daisy Jewels and crafts

I added texture paste through stencils and painted black before glueing the tombstone to the base.

I added a couple of extra side fences and some plastic spiders.

I then broke up some small pieces of wood, actually they were the little pieces that come with box canvases, that I don't really know what they are for. I stained them and glued into a pile with moss mixed in and a couple of hands reaching out from the grave.

I stamped a new stamp from Indigblu called cracked glass on the grave stone as I thought it looked like spider web. As I was sticking pieces into place using a glue gun, I draipped the stringey bits across the sides.

These 2 little tealight boxes were painted first before glueing together and then I added glow in the dark paint to the ghost bats and spiders.

For the haunted house I stencilled first with texture paste, then painted with a couple of colours of starlight paints. the ghost and graves also got a wash of glow in the dark paint.

Think I might add a little bit more to this one, some moss and extra embellishments maybe.

Champion Pigeon in Watercolour

When a friend at work found out I love to paint she asked me to do a painting of her dads champion pigeon. I explained to her that I'm only learning and that Ive never painted a pigeon before. This is the photo of said bird that she sent me over using her mobile phone.

I decided to have a go using watercolours and brusho's, after a couple hours work, this is the finished piece.
Her dad was made up with it and is currently showing it off to all his pigeon owner mates.

He has already asked me to paint another of his birds and says a few of his friends would like me to paint their pigeons too.
Think I'm going to be busy for a while :))

Handcast resins for sale on my page

I've had lots of people ask where I get my resin embellishments that I use in my crafts, as I make my own I thought I would make some to sell. That way when someone gets inspired by my makes, they can have  a go themselves.

Dragon eye altered journal cover

Just think Smaug the dragon waking up in that classic scene from the Hobbit. That was my inspiration for these journal covers.

I made the eyes by handcasting resin in a mould and and then building around it using clay and some texture stones. I painted the eyeballs with acrylic paint and once dry applied a couple of coats of Glossy Accents.

Before I applied them to the mountboard cover, I used texture paste through stencils to add background texture.

Once I stuck on the eyes and built round with clay, I also added some texture stones, metal cogs and some coins. This was to give the idea of Smaug laying on all the treasure.

I decided this one was a water dragon so coloured him with a base of blue.

After painting with the base colours, using starlight paint, I then rubbed over with different coloured guilding waxes to pick up on all the textures.

I really love them and am in the process of making more and I decided to do something similar on a canvas. But you'll have to wait to see that one as I think that might take a while to complete.

Dragon Boxes

Good morning , I hope if you live in the UK you are enjoying your bank holiday, and if you live else where that you are having a great day too.

I have always been a fantasy/ magic fan especially dragons, I'm facinated by them, so I've really enjoyed making these dragon boxes.

I made the baby dragons from paperclay so they are very lightweight .

To get lots of texture I used texture paste through stencils,

Powertex mixed with 3d Flex, which creates a crackle effect.

Die cuts and ripped pieces of cardboard also painted with brown Powertex, gave texture to the top.

I painted the dragons with Starlight paints and rubbed over with guilding wax.

And the boxes were painted with various acrylic paints mixed with sand and coloured guilding wax
