Another wall painting

I have painted a banner with my daughters name on, carried by bluebirds. It will be above her bed once I get the furniture back in place.

I started by drawing a rough sketch, you can just about see it.
I painted it pink to match the castle. I mixed up 5 shades to get the shadow and highlight effects.

Next I painted some cute little bluebirds,

and then some ribbons.

Finally I painted in her name. As you can see I'm not very good at lettering, good thing there's only 3 letters

Here's the finished banner.
I decided to paint some birds. You can see in this pic the eraser marks behind the castle where I was going to paint a rainbow but changed my mind. I will have to paint over it with blue again.
I painted some birds,

 flowers and insects.

These low down ones will be hidden by Mia's bed, but as its a cabin bed she plays under it, so these will be a little surprize for her to find.

The result so far, not sure what to paint on the other walls yet.

My next bedroom project is going to be a little trickier than the last

I enjoyed painting my sons room so much that I decided to go the whole hog in my daughters. I am attempting to paint wall murals around the room. This is what I've done so far....
I started by painting the wall blue and adding some clouds all around the room.

Then I sketched a castle and started to paint it pink.

This is the main body of the castle finished, sorry about the photo, but I couldnt block out the sun as I have taken the curtains down.

Next I painted the turrets, flags and a door

A closer look.

Finally I painted in some windows...

and added some highlights...

and Voila !! A fairy princess castle

Ross completed bedroom

Here a photo of my sons bedroom complete with new bed and bedding, freshly painted walls, including the camoflage wall and even camoflage curtains that I made and sewn myself. Not bad for a first attempt at curtain making and fancy wall painting.
One problem I have now is that if he stands in his bedroom wearing his Army cadet camoflage uniform, I cant find him. :o)

I've been painting , but not on cards

I've been busy this week, I've been decorating my son's bedroom and trying to get a good stock of nappy and towel cake gifts, ready for all the craft fairs that are coming up, starting this coming Saturday.
We had a great day out on Sunday, my hubby won us all VIP entrance to VW car racing at Donnington Park, including Paddock passes and free food and drinks all day.

My son has just joined the army cadets, so he asked for camoflage colours in his bedroom, as usual I decided to go one step further and painted him a feature wall to match the new camoflage bed linen.

What do you think? He loves it.
Please ignore the shelving unit, I've got to start putting all his belongings back in now.

Another batch of Christmas cards

Tried to keep these plain, so they were quite quick and easy to make. I bought the stamps from The Hobby House when I visited the Papercraft Show at Harrogate Showground last month.
I stamped and coloured with Promarkers and although you can't see on the photos, I used stickles on the snowman, Santas beard and Rudolphs antlers and nose.

So I would like to enter these in the A Spoon full of Sugar #124 - Sparkle and Shine and also Stamp Something - Time to Celebrate challenges.

More Christmas cards

I enjoyed making the card in the last post so much I decided to make some more using the same sketch. I'm trying to get a good stock of Christmas cards ready in time for a few local church and school craft fairs I will be attending. Thought I might group these together in a box or pack to sell.

Papertake Weekly blog hop card

Here's my card for the Papertake Weekly blog hop challenge.
I followed Dawny's sketch from challenge 31. As I'm currently trying to get my Christmas cards made, I decided to make this Christmas themed.
I stamped this gorgeous Whiff of Joy image and coloured with Promarkers.
I punched some patterned paper flowers and spritzed them with some gold silkies, then layered them up and finished with a pearl centre.
Hope you like it.

I've got my assessment tomorrow - Wish me luck !

Here's a few cards I made today. Two of the thankyou cards are for the head teacher and class teacher I used to work for. I have been preparing for my assessment for Higher Level Teaching Assistant over the last few months and the big day is tomorrow. After interviewing and assessing me the assessor has to speak to these 2 ladies and hopefully they will big me up and tell him what a great job I do when working with the children. So I have made cards and got them gifts in anticipation of their kind words. I am very nervous so making these cards today has helped take my mind off tomorrow. I will only find out if I pass in about 6 weeks so 'Fingers crossed'.

These two are versions of Julie Hickeys 9 square design.

I got inspiration for this from a card by Emma Williams a design team member over at Craftwork Cards blog.
Most of the papers, cards, sentiments and card candy are all from Craftwork Cards.
